MARRIAGE & FAMILY

We are big on marriage and family at FELLOWSHIP CORONA because we know that strong marriages are the essential building blocks for strong families. In turn, strong families are essential to strong, thriving churches and healthy communities.
Marriage

We believe that God's design for marriage is a covenant and committed relationship between one man and one woman (Gen 1:26; 2:18-25). Further, we hold this relationship in high regard; established and ordained by God as the only divinely sanctioned context for matrimonial companionship, sexual fulfillment, and procreation (Malachi 2:15; Matthew 19:4-6; Hebrews 13:4). We are convinced that God's heart is for the physical, emotional, and spiritual flourishing of husbands and wives within the marriage relationship.

Marriage is also a mysterious picture of the relationship between Christ and His church. When Christian marriages end in divorce, this picture is distorted not only to the parties involved but also to the watching world (Ephesians 5:31-32; Revelation 19:6-9; Malachi 2:16; Matthew 19:3-9).

Lasting marriages require work, compromise, sacrifice, and selfless intentionality. As is the case with any relationship involving two sinners, marriage can be both highly rewarding and extremely difficult (or perhaps extremely "refining" is the better word to use here).
At FELLOWSHIP we desire to do all we can to nurture healthy and sustainable marriages that honor God and serve as a witness to the world regarding the blessings that come from submitting to God's way of relating to one another as husbands and wives.

Family Ministry
We hold to the biblical model of the family as the God-ordained institution designed to be the primary means by which He intends for faith in Christ and the hope of His Gospel to be transmitted from one generation to the next.
At FELLOWSHIP CORONA we cannot overstate the importance of this principle. Therefore, we endeavor to incorporate a family ministry model that supports, equips, and encourages parents and grandparents as they engage in a lifestyle of biblical faith and training with their children at church and at home (Deuteronomy 6:1-9). As a faith community, we seek to come alongside parents and grandparents but not to usurp their roles as the primary faith trainers.
